About Didim
Didim is a coastal town surrounded by the Aegean Sea and soft golden sandy beaches that stretch for miles. It’s the kind of clear blue water you can see through and just to see it sparkling in sunlight is enough to make you relax. There are so many beautiful beaches here where you can sit in the sun with a cold beer in your hand, while you forget about everything and simply enjoy the view … sheer bliss.
As a resort we have all the things that make for a great holiday such as water sports, boat trips, colourful markets, scuba diving, an aquapark, a fairground, day trips and excursions, scooter rentals, horse riding, go karts, lively bars, nightclubs and live music, all hosted with the greatest of hospitality which the Turks are famous for. But we have much more than that … you see, the area is rich in history dating back to the Neolithic period and it has been in many hands from the Persians to the Romans. Even Alexander the Great came to Didim!
If you love history then you can follow his footsteps as you wander around the ancient city of Priene, Miletos or the Temple of Apollon and imagine what it was like to consult with the legendary Oracle for a glimpse into your future. Even if you're not a history buff, leaning on an ancient column makes a great photo that will make your friends envious!
You may think that’s enough, but we don’t want you to think that’s all Didim has to offer. Agriculture has also played its part and fields of wheat and cotton add to the stunning landscape that sits at the foot of five finger mountain, a purple mountain range on the outskirts of the area. If you happen to drive through at cotton picking time, you’ll see heads bobbing up and down as women work the fields, filling their sacks with white fluffy balls that will eventually end up in a supermarket near you!
Of course we can’t talk about Didim without mentioning our $50 million Marina 'D Marin', which became operational in 2009. Got a yacht? Then dock it here and wander into the Yacht club for a Martini or two around the pool. No yacht? Don’t worry, you can still get the Martini or dine in one of the restaurants that overlook the Marina while you dream about buying a one.
Didim has learned as it’s grown. It’s learned to cater to the tastes of its guests so yes, you can eat in our traditional restaurants where you’ll learn that a ‘kebab’ comes in many different varieties, with every corner of our country having its own speciality, but you’ll also find fish and chips, roast dinners, pizza, steaks and English breakfasts if that is what you fancy. We would urge you to be adventurous though as we’re sure you’ll like our gozleme’s and our koftes, although our tripe soup may be a step too far!
If you’re self catering while you’re here, then a trip to the farmers market on a Wednesday is a must. Stall after stall of juicy ripe tomatoes, succulent peaches and dark red cherries. Freshly picked bunches of mint and rocket. Honey still on the comb, crumbly white goats cheese, fetas and a variety breakfast and sandwhich cheeses, salty black olives and fruit & veg in all colours of the rainbow.
We also have a Saturday market that sells fruit and veg alongside handbags, shoes, watches, clothes, souvenirs and keepsakes and if you cant find what you’re looking for there, there are plenty of regular supermarkets and local shops around.
Don’t forget, Turkey is built on a bartering system, so remember to give it a go down the market!
Talking about money, Turkey is a great place to make it go further. Our property prices and cost of living is much less than the rest of Europe, so it’s the perfect place to holiday and very economical too. This is one of the many reasons to invest in your very own place in the sun where you can enjoy a first rate lifestyle without breaking the bank.
We look forward to welcoming you!
